ARCA Racing Series Press Release

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Russell Roulo in Line for Klotz Engine Mechanic of the Year Award

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - After six race award wins in the first 18 races of 2012, Russell Roulo stands ready to take the Klotz Engine Mechanic of the Year Award if driver Chris Buescher can hold the points lead and win the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards championship.

Competing mechanics must register at the beginning of the season and carry the decal of Klotz Synthetic Lubricants, Inc. on the car to be eligible to win. At the end of the season, the highest-ranking participant - as determined by the final overall point standings - will win the award.

Roulo and the No. 17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford have won the Klotz Engine Mechanic Award of the Race three times in the last four races, at Berlin Raceway, the Illinois State Fairgrounds, and Salem Speedway. Roulo also won the award three times earlier this year, at Toledo Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, and New Jersey Motorspors Park.

"It's been a great season of competition for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards," said John Klotz, president of Klotz Synthetic Lubricants. "The mechanics and crewmen are the heart and soul of these teams and we're proud to support that dedicated group of crewmen and women with the Klotz Engine Mechanic of the Year Award. The Roulo Brothers have been a staple in the ARCA garage for many, many years, so I'm thrilled to see that Russell Roulo is a potential recipient of this year's award."

Klotz Synthetic Lubricants, Inc., a Fort Wayne, Ind. company, is the Official Synthetic Lubricant of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

Todd Stalcup, the registered mechanic for Frank Kimmel's No. 44 ThorSport Racing Toyota, stands second in line for the award with Kimmel only 85 points behind Buescher in the overall standings. Stalcup has two race award wins this year.

Other race award winners from 2012 include: Cunningham Motorsports' Paul Andrews, four; Venturini Motorsports' David Smith, two; Venturini's Tyler Allen; Drew Charlson Racing's Lanny Barnes; Coulter Motorsports' J.R. Norris; and CGH Motorsports' Kevin Reed.

This Friday, October 19, the ARCA season will close in the Kansas Lottery 98.9 at Kansas Speedway, with race action starting at 8:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. local) on SPEED. ARCARacing.com will also feature live timing and scoring coverage for the season finale.

2012 is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards' 60th Anniversary Season, featuring 20 races at 18 tracks. The complete 2012 event schedule is available at ARCARacing.com.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 26 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.375 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series visited Alabama's Mobile International Speedway and Minnesota's Elko Speedway for the first time.

Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in three professional touring series and local weekly events.

Team Dillon Racing's McDowell Wins Winchester 200!

Dale McDowell

Klotz Sponsored Driver, Dale McDowell, wins at his first Winchester speedway appearance at the 49th annual Winchester 200!

McDowell’s stellar weekend started on Friday as he became the 15th different late model winner of the season with his win in the divisions 35-lap event that featured the top-24 drivers in qualifying. After setting fast-time in time trials over the 45-cars on hand, Austin Hubbard earned the pole to start the feature, with McDowell lining-up second. As the green was displayed, McDowell beat Hubbard into the first-turn to become the race leader, a spot he wouldn’t relinquish. As McDowell lead, Hubbard and Nick Dickson waged a furious battle for second that would last the entire event, with Hubbard prevailing at the finish as McDowell would go on to take the win and the $3500 pay day that went along with it. “This is a brand new MasterSbilt race car and it was darn near perfect tonight.” The 46-year old pilot stated. “This track was bad-fast tonight and you could move all over, but our car seemed to like the top, and that’s where we stayed.” McDowell had high praise for the refurbished Winchester facility. “Greg (Gunter) and all the staff have done a wonderful job with this place.” Said McDowell. “It sure has changed a lot since the last time I was here and the improvements are amazing."

McDowell from Team Dillon Racing Grabs 5th Win of 2012!

Gaffney, SC - (July 3rd, 2012) - Kotz Sponsored Driver, fast qualifier and polesitter Dale McDowell, dominated the seventh annual Robert Pursley Memorial at Cherokee Speedway, leading all 40 laps and pocketing $5,000 in the Battle of the Eastern All Stars event. At the drop of the two. Behind them, last year's race winner Ross Bailes of Clover, SC lost the spot to Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA in the first couple laps.
The track visibly began to rubber up prior to the field taking the halfway mark. As the track distance on McDowell. But McDowell's machine ratated through the corners well and he maintained his advantage despite his right-rear brake rotor glowing orange.
"I was riding the brake to keep the car really straight," McDowell said. "It was just for tire wear because I felt like it was really good on tires."
At the Checkered flag, McDowell had a half-straightaway advantage on Pursley while Bailes, Roberts and Franklin rounded out the top five.

"The car was good, but my hats off to John and Johnny Pursley tonight. This race was about their father and grandfather. It was pretty neat with Johnny starting up there next to me (outside of row one). I lost my mother last year, so it's pretty special when you honor someone like that. But the car was really good. Shane, my brother, and Sean and the guys did a great job. We're in Ty's car. I wrecked mine last week at Lernerville, so Ty had a car there. So everything went right. Qualifiying went good, and leading the first lap was important." - Dale McDowell

“We had a really strong American Ethanol Chevrolet during the race today. Gil Martin did an awesome job knowing what I needed in the car as a rookie. He made the car tight enough at the beginning of the race for me. The radio in the car broke and it caused us to go one lap down. Ty Dillon Makes His NASCAR Debut

Dover Internation Speedway - (June 4th, 2012) - Klotz is the official lubricant and fuel sponsor for Ty Dillon's dirt late model car and team, Team Dillon Racing. As he branched out this past weekend, Ty made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Dover International Speedway. He raced to an impressive eighth-place finish. Dillon posted the third-quickest time Saturday morning’s qualifying session. After taking the green-flag, the Richard Childress Racing driver was scored in the sixth position when NASCAR officials displayed a competition caution at lap 40. Crew chief Ernie Cope directed Dillon to pit road for four fresh Goodyear tire, fuel and a chassis adjustment to combat a loose-handling condition on the No. 33 Chevrolet. Dillon restarted in the 13th position on lap 45 and maintained position through the halfway point of the 200-lap affair. The 2011 ARCA Racing Series champion moved into the 11th position but fell one lap down to the leaders just past the race's halfway point. Following a routine green-flag pit stop on lap 116, a caution flag slowed the field and positioned the No. 33 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet ninth for the ensuing restart. Dillon held onto the ninth-position and was awarded the Lucky Dog Award, placing the team back on the finish in his Nationwide Series debut. Team Dillon Racing (Austin Dillon) remains third in the Nationwide Series owner's point championship standings after earning the top-10 finish.

"I knew they put together a great car and it was up to me to perform in it, and we came out with a top-10 finish. I learned a lot from this race that I hope I can use in other Nationwide Series races. It's a great series, and I'm looking forward to running in it full time one day." - Ty Dillon, Driver of the #33

Dillon Doubles take the Gator Championship

DoubleDillon

BARBERVILLE, Fla. - (Feb. 21, 2012) – A lot of racing families dream of the success the Dillon family experienced Tuesday night at Volusia Speedway Park as Klotz sponsored driver Austin Dillon raced to a Triple 20 feature victory and younger brother Klotz sponsored driver Ty claimed the overall UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment DIRTcar UMP Modified points championship.

“It feels great,” said Ty Dillon, the 19-year-old grandson of Richard Childress. “Me and Austin and Team Dillon Racing have been coming down here for quite a few years in our young racing career. We fought so hard. We’ve won a couple of races. This year it finally paid off. Me and Austin got a win and we finally got the Gator championship

Ty, last year’s “Gator Championship” race winner, earned his first overall UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit points title on the strength of seven top-10 finishes – four of which saw him finish inside the top three. Ty Dillon’s victory came during the Friday makeup race, which was held Sunday afternoon during the first week of competition.

“It’s tough,” he said. “There are some awesome racers out here and the level of competition gets harder and harder every year we come back. We didn’t run as good as we wanted to at the beginning of the week, but we worked hard, we didn’t have any DNFs and we finished out races. Our worst finish (in seven events) was seventh. We were solid every night.”

Older Brother Austin started the final event a row in front of his brother and made quick work of Kyle Bronson and Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Penn. Dillon broke into the top three on the fifth lap of the main event and reeled in leader Devin Gilpin of Columbus, Ind., making the winning pass just before the midpoint. Ty worked past Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., on lap 18 and then swept past Gilpin on the final lap to earn runner-up honors. Gilpin finished third, Bronson crossed the line fourth and NASCAR veteran Kenny Schrader rounded out the top five.

“It was cool because it was the top 20 in points in that race,” said Austin Dillon, the 2011 NASCAR Truck Series champion. “That was the toughest competition out here. Starting eighth it makes it even better. We were really able to drive up through there and were able to move around. We gained constantly all week on the car and how it drove. Tonight it really showed. I think going into next year we got something to go after these guys with.”
